About Wan Chai

Wan Chai is the beating heart of Hong Kong Island — a neighbourhood that refuses to be defined by a single identity. By day, it's a bustling commercial district with some of the city's most important business addresses. By night, Lockhart Road transforms into one of Hong Kong's liveliest entertainment strips. And woven throughout are quiet residential streets, traditional markets, and temples that have been here for over a century.

Location-wise, Wan Chai is unmatched. You're equidistant from Central (the financial hub) and Causeway Bay (the shopping capital), with both reachable in minutes by MTR or on foot via the covered walkways. The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre sits on the waterfront, and the Star Ferry to Tsim Sha Tsui departs from just down the road.

For food lovers, Wan Chai is paradise. The Wan Chai Market Cooked Food Centre offers some of the best and cheapest local food in the city. Michelin-starred Kam's Roast Goose is here, as are dozens of international restaurants catering to every cuisine and budget. Late-night eating options abound, which is rare in Hong Kong.

The neighbourhood is also surprisingly green. Victoria Park — Hong Kong's largest urban park — is a short walk east, offering running tracks, tennis courts, swimming pools, and open green space. The Wan Chai Heritage Trail takes you through historic temples, old markets, and colonial-era buildings.

Wan Chai suits those who want to be in the centre of the action. It's loud, lively, and endlessly interesting. If you prefer quiet suburban living, this isn't the neighbourhood for you. But if you want the full Hong Kong experience with maximum convenience, Wan Chai delivers like nowhere else.
